Iam Having Problems With Windows Starting Up Options

every time windows starts up.i first get the screen that tells me the video card info and then the intel screen.and then a black screen with first 1 white dot that flashes for about three seconds and stops and another dot appears under the first dot.after it stops.the windows xp pro screen comes up.and then the welcome screen.then the desktop comes up.the problem is that when i try to reinstall window with my bootable disk it cant boot because of the flashing dots.i had this problem before but dont know how i fixed it or if it just whent away.eny help to fix this problem would be appreciated.i even took the pc to my tech guy and he doesnt know how to fix it.he thinks it mite be a bios problem???????

try to enter the bios, by holding down the relevant key (del or f1 or something else) and see if your CD rom is first in the boot order, if not make it, eg

first boot device CD ROM
Second boot device Floppy Disk
third boot device Hard Disk

If the bios boot order is set ok, then find the page where the option to re set to default optimized settings is and select this (probably on the page where you save and exit the bios). The reboot and check the bios device boot order again making sure its CD ROM first as above.

If after all that it still wont boot, maybe a flash of your bios may sort it. You can get the bios from your MB manufacturer and the flash application, see there website.

Computer stops responding with a black screen when you start Windows

hi.canoneman.thanks for the reply.and yes the cd rom is set to boot first.me and my tech both checked that first.i will try to reset to default and let you know how it goes.edit.hi.canoneman.i just whent into the bios by hitting f2 and the boot order is set to boot from cd first.but all i can find for the defaults are the language default.and i cant even see how to set that not that i want to..edit sins i cant edit my first post what i should of said was that my pc does bootup.but i have other problems that i need to do a fresh install of windows but because of the white flashing dot like bar i cant get the windows install cd to boot and when i try to install threw my computer i cant.so before i can do a fresh install of windows i need to fix the white flashing bar like dots.the dots flash rite when the cd should be spinning to boot...........................

hi.lvee.thanks for the reply.i dont thing that the bootdisk will help because i can boot the computer up its just when i put the windows xp pro disk in to do a fresh instll at the point that when the cd should be spinning to boot off of the instalation disc it doesnt.........................

i cant believe i didnt notice this before but every time i see the flashing bar the light on my floppy drive goes on and after the flashing stops the light on the floppy drive goes off.i dont know if one has enything to do with the other or not but eny thing to fix it........
